The International Tennis Federation's first Congress on Tennis Science and Technology toook place on 1st - 4th August 2000 at the University of Surrey, Roehampton, UK. The event was the first of its kind and aimed to bridge the gap between science, technology and players. A range of scientific and technological issues was presented and discussed by internationally respected tennis researchers and academics, as well as key figures from the tennis industry.
The ISEA now provides access to an extensive network of contacts in Industry and Academia for the newly-formed Sports Science Engineering and Technology (SET) Network based in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Sheffield. The aim of the Sports SET Network is to improve the competitiveness of the UK sports products sector through technology transfer, networking, research, design and development.
